You may have driven around Salisbury or any town to learn to drive and pass your test, but motorway and city driving can be somewhat daunting if you have not experienced them.

We recommend that you take a Pass Plus course if you have only recently passed your test or even if you have driven for a while but you are not familiar with motorway and city driving.

You will learn to accelerate to motorway speeds down the slip road and merge. (Some people will be nice and move lane to allow you to merge more easily but you can’t count on that). Once you’re on the motorway, keep left unless you’re overtaking. Don’t sit at 60 in the middle lane. Check blind spots when changing lanes and merging too, the last thing you want is to bump someone at 70mph.

City and town driving involves increased traffic, there are more cars on the road with lots of other commuters, rush hour queues, and more vehicles to observe and manoeuvre past or park beside. And don’t forget the bikes, buses, taxis, and other commercial vehicles on the road.

The Pass Plus course will cover driving in town at busy times in all weathers. We will take you on rural roads and at night. The course will familiarise you with dual carriageway and motorway driving.

All modules should be practical sessions, although local conditions may mean some are theory based. You’ll normally spend at least 5.5 hours driving.

You will not take a test but you’ll be assessed throughout the course. To pass you’ll have to reach the required standard in all modules.
