We offer comprehensive practical support for supervising drivers from refresher training sessions on areas identified by you, to a short course covering all aspects of your role and responsibilities as supervisor. Critical elements of this course are working with you to get to grips with the basics of exercising car control from the passenger side. Up to date materials are available to help you get the most out of your time in the car.
Supervisors – Be Aware! – Don’t Fall Foul of the Laws That Govern Your Role.
Why would I need instruction on being asupervisor? Wouldn’t I just get in the car and let the learner practise some driving? Sadly, it’s not quite that simple.
First let’s look at the legal requirements:
You need to be at least 21 years of age and have held a full driving licence – manual or automatic – for at least three years. You are responsible for knowing that the car is in a safe legal condition and you must meet the minimum eyesight standard for driving. As well as your own licence, you need to check the Learner driver’s licence as well. You need to ensure that L plates are affixed to the vehicle.
You must be supervising on a voluntary basis – no payment can be taken, or you could fall foul of the laws governing professional instructing.
