Demand for Auto Rises – Increased Auto Cover (Tidworth / Andover)
Drive Hart trainee Tizzy Stiles-Palmer joins the Automatic Driving Instructor Team of Drive Hart this month, covering Salisbury, Tidworth, Larkhill, Larkhill and Bulford areas and Andover. Auto instructor, Tizzy will be working the area alongside our other Drive Hart Auto Team members, Keenan Waters, Yvonne Piper, Rachel Cox, Amanda Yeadon, Kayleigh Lee-Taylor, Vilas Jain and Harmeet Singh.
The move to grow automatic provision by Drive Hart comes in response to Government drive to increase more eco-friendly car provision, and reduce the number of older manual transmission cars to reduce pollution. A move which is now resulting in increased demand for auto lessons and tests. We are also noting change in the vehicle second-hand market where more hybrid and electric cars are coming on-line (with automatic gear-boxes). And alongside this change we are also seeing increases in taxes associated with older diesel and petrol cars is driving up the demand for more eco-friendly automatic cars by parents and learner students alike. The increase of automatic cars (whether hybrid or electric) is driving the increased need for lessons in automatic cars and the increased demand for auto tests we have seen of late. For learners using an auto for learning to drive this can mean less cost (associated with learning gears/clutch) and simplify the early lessons where they learn to manage the car controls.
The death-nell of the manual transmission has already been rung as Matt Morriss of Car Supermarket announced in his blog of 26.5.2025:
